Marriage look-up Halesowen completed
« on: Sunday 27 July 08 19:38 UTC (UK) »

...for James GUEST and Sarah SOUTHALL, 2nd September 1804 would be most appreciated.

James and Sarah appear on the 1851 census, Double Row, Darby End, Nail Maker
James b. 1775, Dudley Worcester, age 75
Sarah b. 1782, Lye Waste, age 68

Still researching, but they had numerous children (who, in turn, had numerous children) as follows:

William, c. 1806 (might be James's Dad's name)
John (might be Sarah's Dad's name)
Mary (James's Mum's s name possibly)
Sarah
Elizabeth (Sarah's Mum's possibly)
James, b. 1816  = Matilda nee PLANT (mine- 2x)...married 1835, 15th March, Old Swinford
Rosannah
Priscilla
Daniel

Born in Stourbridge myself but miles from the area now for looking at local records...

Thank you,

Lesley Smiley

James Guest otp bach and Sarah Southall otp spin
wit: John Richards and Richd Fiddian

Richard Fiddian was I think a church official, at least he witnessed lots and lots of weddings. Not sure about John Richards though.

I wonder if the visitor Ann Hughs aged 13 in 1851 is their grand daughter? Aged 3 in 1841 she is at Double Row with parents William (25) and Elizabeth (29) and there is this marriage

26 Oct 1835 Halesowen
William Hughes otp bach and Sarah Guest otp spin
Wit: Job Mason and Elizabeth Dimmock

In case you don't have it (since they are down as Quest on Ancestry) on the next but one page are

Sarah ditto,55,y
Daniel ditto,15,coal miner,y

Thank you, much appreciated Smiley

....Ann HUGHES looks like a grand-daughter
....Wasn't able to find 1841 previously 'cos of "Quest" mislisting
...Great to have the marriage info...not sure how to find more information on parents...of:

James GUEST, b. 1775, Dudley...I think it might be William GUEST from the IGI and
Sarah SOUTHALL, b. 1782, Lye Waste...I think it might be John SOUTHALL from the IGI
