KELLY of Stoneykirk
« on: Monday 28 July 08 19:39 UTC (UK) »

I am presently researching Robert KELLY and Martha (WILSON of Donegal) and would like to know if anyone else has a connection or information on this family.

Regards, M.

Hi M.

It might be a good idea if you could add some dates or other information to give people a frame of reference. KELLY is a fairly common name in these parts Smiley

Hello Kirsty,

Yes I was a bit vague!

Robert KELLY c1786-1864 and wife Martha (WILSON) c1808-1881. The census returns from 1841 onwards showed that they lived in the parish, of Stoneykirk (Altogue, Dalvadie, High Culgroat, South Two Mark).

My interest presently is to learn more if I can, about their origins - and their son Andrew KELLY, b 1834. It seems that at the time of 1871 census Andrew was living in Glasgow and 3 years later married Helen Galbraith.

Also in Stoneykirk, in 1865, a son Andrew Kelly was born to Agnes MANN, and he was to name his father as an Andrew Kelly.

I agree there are lots of Kellys in this part of the world, but I hope this helps to narrow them down a bit!

Thanks for your interest, M.

Hi Gadget,

I have visited the sight regularly in the past, but your timely mention prompted me to take another look and I did find several extra snippets of information on Stoneykirk KELLYS. Thanks for that!

Kind regards, M.
