He gives his place of birth as Whiteparish around 1765.
Why would he have had a alias?

Interestingly, in recent times, the CFO of ******* Cars was a Gorf - we reversed his name to give an alias of FROG NEK...

I had a look in Whiteparish and could find no Henry Thomas in 18th century, found these baptisms
15 Mar 1635 Henry Thomas son of William jnr
26 Oct 1666 Henry Thomas son of Henry.
And a burial 1 Sep 1682 Henry Thomas.
As expected no Gorfs either.
