Marriage for Maurice Rose please.
« on: Friday 01 August 08 17:50 UTC (UK) »

Trying to find a marriage for Maurice Rose.

I`m affraid the only other information I have is that his wife was called Gladys. ( There is a small snippet that may or may not help which is that, Maurice owned and ran a business in the Terrington area - just in case someone recognises the name and the location ). I would imagine that the marriage would be 1930s or 1940`s??

Sorry to be so vague and I realise this request for help is "A Long Shot" but really hoping someone may be able collate the small amount of information into facts for me.

Many thanks in advance Steve

Hi

Have you only looked at the partially transcribed index on freebmd?

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/

Transcriptions for those years are very thin on the ground

You will need to search the full GRO index  which is available at your nearest main library if you live in the UK.  It can also be searched online if you have an Ancestry subscription or at www.findmypast.com which is a paysite

Without knowing Glady's surname you face a very time consuming task as only the spouse's surname is shown alongside the entry - not her christian name

There is potentially a 20 year period involved which means downloading 4 images per year and searching for a Maurice Rose entry on each image

There will probably be more than one entry but using the reference and surname of spouse, you will have to download the corresponding image to see if she was a Gladys

Thanks for your reply CaroleW Grin

I did ask the original question tongue in cheek with the hope someone may have Ancestry subscription and could look for me Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed

I`ll pop upto the local library and have a look next week. I know they don`t have the full GRO index because I`ve asked before but they do have Ancestry.
