THOMAS FLEET
« on: Sunday 17 August 08 19:56 UTC (UK) »

Can anyone please point me in the right direction so that I might find a baptism for THOMAS FLEET of Aldsworth, Westbourne, Sussex.

Approximate year of birth 1836.

He married Ann Raiss 7/2/1756 at St John the Baptist, Westbourne. Register does not state his residence at this time.

Thomas & Ann had 9 children between 1757 and 1785 all baptised at Westbourne.

His occupation was that of Labourer (Ag Lab?)

He died on 20/4/1824 aged 88yrs and was burried at St John the Baptist Westbourne on 25/4/1824.

His grave/headstone stands right beside the entrance to the church (the door that has the wooden porch).

There is a written copy of his headstones inscription in church.

He left a will that he signed on 24/9/1822, which was read 31/8/1824.

Reading this back I sound rather greedy here considering all that I have found on Thomas. But if you do not ask you will never know.

Thank you

Thanks Toni
Yes that is what I have.
I am descended from Thomas son of Thomas & Ann baptised 4/4/1762, Westbourne.
I have only one marriage for Thomas 1762 and that is 28/7/1827 St Mary's, Portsea to Sarah Pratt (she was possibly a widow). I have no idea whether Thomas 1762 was a widower when he married Sarah. So he could have been the one who married Ann Bleach.
I will endevour to check that out tomorrow.

i wonder if the published register of voters will help you, he woul dhave been eligible to vote if he was male (check) over 21(check) and owned property worth £10 plus (not sure about this one) but he may appear and give you an idea of his residence
