*Complete Thanks Koromo*Mac help please with jpeg resize
« on: Sunday 03 August 08 12:14 UTC (UK) »

Hi, please could you give me some advice. I am trying to post an image on rootschat max image size is 500KB & preferred dpi 300-600. Even I can understand that bit  Roll Eyes BUT when I scan the image (a fairly small photo of approx 5x3.5 inch) I can not get it under the 500KB unless I scan at the lowest dpi & this is too small for the restorers.
Is there a way of reducing the image to just under 500KB on a mac? I tried using colorsync but result was not great.
If not, could you recommend some freeware I could download to resize Jpegs.
I just dont understand why I am having so much trouble with this photo. Huh
Thanks Nic.

Hi Nic

The traditional Mac graphics program for resizing or changing formats is Graphic Converter. It is shareware so you should be able to use it for a trial period (OS 10.4 or 10.5):

A free photo resizer....enter in Google,    MS Power Toys.  On Google list click that.   On the menu is Image Resizer.   Down-load.  When installed there's no icon and seems to be nowhere.  However high-light a photo to be reduced, then give  mouse a right click.   On that menu is Resize Pictures.  A box shows giving 3 options for a size.  Check prefered one. Click.  A reduced copy of the picture will go into same folder as original.
Hope it works for you.      Gragareth.
