Yes, scan the cert and then crop the bits you want to post (you're not allowed to post the whole cert)

Definitely John Holmes. Both fathers are Labourers.

The 1841 census shows a John Holmes in Ainderby Steeple - would you like the details? (Unfortunately there isn't a Sarah in the household though.)

1st witness is John Bowman - the Bowmans were John Wells' stepfamily if I remember well. Second witness looks like Robert Watson.

Hi Candidiasia

The occupation of John Holmes is "Do", the abbreviation for ditto.  So like Christopher Wells he was a Labourer.

Good luck

Thanks for that Tati

Do we have any idea on when Elizabeth may have been born.

An Elizabeth was found born 1814 Ainderberry Steeple with the parents Thomas Holmes and Alice?

Also is there anything on the cenus for Johns father Christopher Wells?

Ainderby Steeple christenings 1814 - 1854 are on the IGI at www.familysearch.org but these are the only children I can find for John and Alice:

Mary Holmes 11 Jan 1818
Christopher Holmes 28 Dec 1823
Isaac Holmes 16 May 1826
Robert Holmes 19 March 1837
Alice Holmes 23 June 1839

 Huh

Just seeing your post - we have Elizabeth born ca. 1818 according to the 1851 census if I remember well ...

Christopher Wells was already dead in 1841 (earliest available census), when we found his mother married to John Bowman.

John and Elizabeth had a son who was Robert Watson maybe he was named after one of Johns Fathers brothers if he had any.

Remember on the other thread, these were the siblings we found for John Wells::

I think I can see a likely contender for John's christening.

John Wells - christening 13 July 1822 Ainderby Steeple, Yorkshire
parents Christopher Wells and Ann

Other children with same parents in the same batch:
MARY ANN WELLS -11 OCT 1824
MATTHEW WELLS - 13 JUL 1822
CHRISTOPHER WELLS - 18 FEB 1827

Genuki tells us that Morton is in the parish of Ainderby Steeple

Well, we don't know where or when Christopher was born so that's a bit of a problem ...  Undecided

Genuki says that Ainderby Steeple burials are deposited at NYRO
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/Misc/CBW/NRY/Ainderbysteeple.html

I'm not familiar with the acronym but NYRO might be North Yorkshire County Record Office:
