Census information Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Hello,
I am new at this, but I'm trying to find some information on William Clayton. He was born in 1826 or 1825 and married Elizabeth Jilson (b. 1836) at some point. All else that I really know is that he left for Canada from Cambridgeshire around 1870. I am looking for anything that will help me find out who his parents are.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Justin.

IGI says baptised/christened 10 Oct 1824, NOT born 10 Dec 1824

You guys are amazing! Thanks so much for your help. On one of the posts, tempsford said "30 bac lab". What does this mean?
Thanks again everyone,
Justin.

Hi
Bachelor meant he was a Bachelor at the time of his wedding to Elizabeth ie not married before.

As opposed to "widower" which meant he had had a wife, but didn't at the time of his marriage
But he could of course have been lying, and was actually married at the time of his marriage, in which case he was a bigamist. And don't think it didn't happen

Possible marriage for Williams parents from Boyds marriage index.
1822 / CLAITON JAS/ WEBB ELZ / FULBOURN ALL SAINTS / CAMBRIDGESHIRE
and maybe Elizabeths parents.
1817 / GILSON JOSH /WILKIN AN / CAMBRIDGE ST CLEMENT / CAMBRIDGESHIRE
