Seeking transcriptions from 1891 and 1901 Censuses of Sorbie.
LOCKHART family; father John (b. c 1860, Sorbie) and mother Maggie (m.s. THOMSON or THOMPSON) (b. c 1861, Sorbie) married 01 July 1881, Wigtown. John is believed to have been a Blacksmith.
They had at least one daughter Elizabeth (b. 26 Jun 1904, Whithorn, Wigton, d. 11 Oct 1949, Dunedin). Family lore tells of other siblings; specifically a Catherine and a brother (name unknown). I am endeavouring to discover when the family emigrated to New Zealand; obviously between Elizabeth's 1904 birth and her 1935 marriage to my great-uncle Hugh.
Apparently, over both Censuses, there are 8 children; 4 girls and 4 boys all born in Wigtownshire, mostly in Sorbie. Two daughters known names are Catherine and Elizabeth.

MANY thanks for your rapid assistance. Now I can go looking for their deaths at
http://www.dunedin.govt.nz/facilities/cemeteries_and_crematorium/cemeteries_search
FOR FREE. The website lists a John Lockhart, age 81 years, died 1941, Years in NZ 28. He is the ONLY John Lockhart who is NOT a native of NZ. My Lockharts lived in Dunedin so there is a good chance THIS is my John, putting arrival in NZ circa 1913.
Thank you again. Now to locate vessel, port of entry, etc.
