I love watching this series, but I wish they would concentrate more on those with British connections.  In previous series we had Julia Sawalha with her French and Jordanian connections, David Dickinson and his Turkish ancestors, Colin Jackson and his Jamaican ancestors, Carol Vordermann and her Dutch relatives, etc, etc.

Now, while all this is very interesting, I want to know about researching family history in the UK, not Turkey, France, Holland or Jordan.   I'll watch with interest, just the same  Wink

But surely there are many of us in the UK who have ancestry from other parts of the world? Mine are all from within these shores, as far as I know, but I found the Carol Vordermann and Julia Sawalha programmes absolutely fascinating.

If there is anyone who is tech savvy out there who understands how these things work, can you please download these programmes onto Bit Torrent, so we poor neglected, desperate people in the Antipodes can join in all the fun discussions.

It could be ten years before it's shown on TV here .... you've got to feel sorry for us - our TV consists largely of repeats of dreadful American sit-coms ....

Please help us!

As far as I have discovered Iplayer is not available to people outside the UK.  I tried (from Spain) when it first came out!

Although someone on Roots had heard that that might change,

That is correct Sad

Rights agreements mean that BBC iPlayer television programmes are only available to users to download or stream (Click to Play) in the UK. However, BBC Worldwide is working on an international version, which we will make available as soon as possible.

Well I shall be sitting down to watch it and mentally making notes because I'm sure Rootschat members will be busy filling in the missing gaps after the programme ends - if not before  Grin

I see they now have a section on the WDYTYA website called 'How we did it'
so I guess it must have sunk in, the constant complaints that they made it look too easy!
