Finding info on prisoners
« on: Friday 15 August 08 16:05 BST (UK) »

Is there anyone who can give me any help on where to start looking for someone who committed a crime.  I have very sketchy details. All I have is that he was named Samuel Nash born in Stoke-on-Trent and died in Harrogate Prison in 1961
Thank you

Hi grom, I would start by contacting Harrogate Record Office, see what they can advise.  Good luck from linell

1961 - possible newspaper reports  Huh  so another possibility might be the Local Studies Library or Libraries (Stoke on Trent or Harrogate)

There are some sites e.g. Black Sheep Index but I'm not sure if the date might be too recent  Undecided
