Microsoft Works 8 - Update KB955428

I have tried to download this update for MS Works and have failed on all occasions.  I contacted MS Assistance Centre and despite a number of suggestions none of them have worked.  With some it involved uninstalling my anti-virus and firewall, invoking Windows firewall and even then failure.

I have asked Microsoft what the update is actually for but have not as yet had a reply.  I am not too worried as I do not rely on Works but it would be helpful if I could succeed in downloading this update or at least try to establish why I am the unlucky one.

Any suggestions greatfully received.

If you search Google using the KB number ou will see that you are not alone regarding this problem.

The update itself is to fix a security flaw in MS Works

1.  Newsfter - I never took you for a cynic!!!!

2.  Falkryn - Just a follow up to my earlier posting.  I accessed the Google site regarding the update malfunction.  A very large number of people were affected by exactly the same problem that I had.  However, after reading every, and I mean every submission  there appeared only one reasonable solution to this problem.  The person suggesting this appeared to be an IT consultant and it seemed to be quite a simple means of installing the download.  Therefore I followed his instructions which basically meant using the MS Download site and selecting the appropriate language and downloading to my Desktop.  With a slight tweak, this upate was installed.

What worries me is that despite being in contact with Microsoft (at least 10 e-mails each way) ALL their proposals did not work and frankly were rubbish bearing in mind the simple solution that resolved this.
