Hi Mariac, I am going to ask a silly question here..lol.  On the 1851 census for Alfred Rose the # is HO107/2128, the # for the 1851 entry for John & Ann Bailey is the same.  Does this mean they are on the same census page, maybe neighbours, I know they are neighbours in the 1871 census.
Thanks
Anne

Hi Ann,
Not a silly question at all. I had to go looking for the answer myself as I also come from Oz.  Huh

HELP!!!
Perhaps someone else could explain it better then I can but briefly HO107 is the home office number for census' of england next bit (piece) goes to a certain part of a county. The numbers started at 1 for london. It then goes to folio and page all of which add up to the exact town the person is living in. After finding this I can only guess that they have those numbers the same because they are both from a certain area of Nottingham.
1851 John Bailey has folio375 page28
1851 Alfred Rose has folio 326 page 20
Hope this makes sense.
Regards

HI Ann,
The reason I asked if John was married previously was because of this..
1841 Census Basford Carlton
John Bailey 30 Notts   Frameworker
Mary  Bailey 25 Notts
William Bailey 7  do
Thomas do    5  do
Elizabeth do  3  do
Thomas Bailey 65 Frameworker
Mary   Bailey  65

also of interest in the 1851 Census Living next door to John and Ann ..
James Bailey 29 Carlton framework knitter
Elizabeth do  29  do dressmaker
Thomas   do  6    do
James     do  2    do
John        do  2    do

Thomas and John could be a match for the nephews with Ann and John in the 1861?Huh
Its getting to complicated Grin

Geeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz, just when I think I'm getting on top of a problem someone puts a stick in the spokes and sends me A over T...LOLOLOL.  I'm not surprised, it's one of those "but wait there's more" stories, but I am determined to get to the bottom of it!  I must order John's death certificate, hopefully that will clear up a few mysteries.
Thankyou

Anne,
Just one last suggestion. That perhaps you could start a new topic and ask for the births of William, Thomas and Elizabeth from the parish registers of Nottingham. I think someone on RC has them and they may be of help.
Good Luck

Hi Mariac, just thought I would let you know that the christenings of the children have the parents John Bailey and Mary Ann. Thanks again for your help.

Hi Anne,
Thanks for letting me know. I guess Mary Ann could have used either name in the census
