It could have been reported in a local paper or even in "The Times Digital Archive"
Can you give a name?

Depending on the nature of the crime and the person or people involved it may not have been printed in a newspaper.
A while ago I tried searching for the death of an English soldier stationed in WWII in Northern Ireland who was killed in a motorcycle accident but there was no mention of anything in the local papers.
