Thank you downside,

For those clear concise instructions, I have been saving everything that you and Falkrn have told me in a file so that I can refer back to it.

I am quite sure that there will be other people in the same boat who will welcome this information too.

Not wanting to be a technophobe, I am going to try and sort this Mozilla thunderbird as soon as I can.

I am not ready to change to Vista, even though I have used and like it, I don't want it until I have to have it.  Happy with XP professional, but I am sure that MS will phase out XP and their support for it soon. Probably the reason for all the changes

Thank you so much for all this help!

Thank goodness for Rootschat.  I've just had a desperate plea from one of my sons on behalf of his sister-in-law who has exactly the same problem.  As she is secretary to a local football club, she is not impressed by the fact that she has apparently lost all her e-mails and e-mail addresses.

I've copied and sent to her the words of wisdom from here.  Hope no-one minds.

Hi Lizzie,

I found mine in the trash can, or dustbin, tell her to look in there!  I do hope that she finds it there and can restore it!  System RESTORES DOES NOT WORK WITH THIS ONE!  Be warned! Shocked

I am still using my outlook express because I hid copies all over the place and thankfully got it all back.  Back up up your  address book and emails if you have not already done it, or you might lose all yours and it is not a pleasant experience.

How ever when my friend comes round we will be doing the motzilla thingy, I cannot see well enough to do it on my own.

I am back to download loading a custom install after that last one! Roll Eyes  No more automatic updates for me!

Rabbit - I told my son, you had found your lost e-mails in the Recycle Bin.  Hopefully that is where his sister-in-law will find hers too.  She wasn't impressed that what appeared to be a simple update would change her e-mail access totally.  It seems she knows a few people where she works that the same thing has happened to.  At least now, she'll be able to tell them where the lost e-mails are lurking. Roll Eyes

My address book is backed up twice and any e-mails I want to keep, I have started saving in folders in My Documents.  Plus I use Mozilla Thunderbird.  Like you, I won't be dictated to by Microsoft if there is an alternative.

Hi Lizzie,

I hid several copies of mine, after I got it back, in the files and the update couldn't find them!  Te he!

If SIL find hers in the dustbin I suggest that she tries this trick,  and backs em all up before she does it!
