Im slightly horrified with what I have done, but I want to know if anything can be done
My G. Granny and her sister, my G.G Auntie Mary kept numerous postcards from over the years.
When I was little I started a postcard collection, so my Granny gave then to me and
yes
I GLUED them into my scrap book. I was only about 7 or 8 and I suppose it was better than throwing them out
...
Obviously I glued them writing side down, with whatever glue I could find
.
Fortunately I still have this collection, however, is there any way I can try and unglue the postcards and try not to do any further damage? I really want to see who sent them!!! They were sent between about 1960 and 1982.

Thanks China
sparkle, I'm at work right now and have to go to a meeting, but I'll get back to you today with some advice. You should be able to save the postcards
Oh, can you tell me whether they're stuck to both sides of the page, or just one?

Hi Tracey
OK, well that makes the job easier, anyway
My solution involves destroying your scrapbook though, so let me know if you're OK with that, and I'll give you some instructions - if you don't like that idea, I'll have to think up something else, but either way I think we can sort something out

Prue,
Thanks again. Theres no problem destroying the scrap book. I was expecting to have to do that anyway.
Cheers

OK Tracey, here's what to do: click on the link below which will take you to a topic where someone had a similar problem...as a first step, though, you will need to cut out all the postcards from the scrapbook pages, and remove as much non-adhered paper as you can from the back of the cards. Hopefully, being from the 60s, the pen used to write on all your cards will be ballpoint, so it shouldn't become solubilised during this wet treatment.

Best of luck - and let me know how it goes

Brilliant Prue!
I shall make an attempt on one of the 'new' postcards first.
And as far as I can remember it was ball point on the postcards. Just hope I find something interesting now!
I shall report back on my progress.
Thanks!

Hello, Thought I would report back as I have finally found time to do quite a bit. And so far Ive been able to read all the postcards Ive taken from the scrap book Very successful, thank you!!!!!!! And Theres nothing written of earthshattering importance, but I've found that basically my G. Granny and two of her friends saved all their postcards for me when they lived in a Nursing home in Hawick between 1982 and 1985 I got a bit emotional as I hadn't even thought about it that way before.
So if anyone knew a Mrs A Preston from Edinburgh, Mrs J Rorrison or Mrs E Slattery for Hawick, I have lots of interseting postcards!!!!
