Hi,
I'm trying to find any record of births for the following people in Pembrokeshire:
John Henton, c1814 Llandewi (mother is possibly Eleanor) Maria Davies, c1814 Llawhaden George Walters, c1812 (father is Thomas Walters, labourer) Martha James, Nov 1813, Jeffreston (father is Thomas James, labourer) George Young, 1798 Hyson
Also, a William Gwynne aka William Gwynne-Thomas or William Thomas, c1827 St Ishmael's. He married a Mary Davis in 1853 and lists his father as William Gwynne, labourer.
Can anyone help please.
Debbie

Don't have any bapts for this area, but these marriages may help? Only have dates 1813 - 1837
Only 5 marriages on index with this surname, none in surrounding counties, so possibly all yours
12 March 1814 John Henton - Rebecca George at Tenby Pembs 20 Nov 1819 Thomas Henton of Llandissilio - Ann Hugh at New Moat Pembs 12 July 1823 John Henton of Llandissilio - Elizabeth Nicholas at Llanycefn Pembs 3 Aug 1824 Stephen Henton - Martha David at Newport Pembs 29 May 1825 John Henton (wid) of Monkton - Mary Reynolds at Tenby Pembs

Thanks for trying Cas. Guess it's one of those brick walls I'm not going to get through!

I've got an index to some baptisms and it's arranged by Hundred, so I need to know which parish at least.
No baptism for John Henton in Llandewi Velfrey, but there is one on the IGI for Bridget Henton bp 28/8/1811 - no parents given
Llawhaden isn't on the IGI and couldn't spot Maria on the index, so family possibly non-conformist.
Martha James is on the index in Jeffreyston for 1813, but she's not on the IGI batch for that parish.
Where's Hyson? Not on this place name list for Pembs http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/PEM/Gazetteer.html
St Ishmaels is on the IGI. No baptism for William Gwynne, but there is one for William Thomas bp 26/1/1828 son of Sarah Thomas, no father listed.
With dates and places, you can copies of parish records from the archives in Haverfordwest http://www.dyfedfhs.org.uk/records.htm#pem

Thanks for that osprey.
From the 1841 census, George Young is listed as being from the county and in 1851 is listed definitely as birthplace of "Hyson, Pembrokeshire". In 1861 however his birthplace is blank. I, too have never found Hyson and wonder whether he could mean "Hayston" as in Hayston Hall or Lower Hayston in Llanstadwell?

he was 'of St Twinnels' when he married Maria Ormond of Pembroke St Mary in 1817 if I've got the right marriage.
Daughters Maria, Eleanor and son Jonathan all baptised in Angle. Son George gives St Twynnels as his place of birth as well, but it's not on the IGI.
I wonder if George's place of birth could be Cosheston? IGI batch only starts in 1799.
Several of the IGI batches for Pembrokeshire only start in 1799 and you have the added problem of the IGI in Wales presuming a patronymic naming method before 1813 whether it was in use or no. Which means that you need to search the individual batch using the surname you're searching in the father's name box. If there's an easier way I'd love to know, but works for me.
