Hi I am looking for any information on the Thorpe/Thorp family of Grandborough, Buckinghamshire, especially the maiden names of the following: Sarah who married John Thorp c1651. She was born c1625 Elizabeth who married John Thorp c1614. She was born c1594 (All events took place in Grandborough). Any info on any of the Thorp/Thorpe family would be highly appreciated though.
Thanks Lisa

Hi Have looked in my Phillimores and ancestry cds and have found nothing matching your marriages. There are a couple of Johns in different areas marrying other women that don't match your names unfortunately. Although I couldn't find anything on the England IGI Batch Numbers, I don't know whether you've looked at this site as it has Grandborough parish details on it (http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountryEngland.htm#PageTitle) and if you search on the Thorp surname you may be able to find sibling records that may have a bit more detail for you.
Info found on ancestry re Thorp:
Henry Thorp mentioned as a juror at Christmas Session Aylesbury 1681-82 John Thorp discharged at Michaelmas Session 1685. Prob non-attendance at church. Robert Thorp assaulted by Thomas Curtis, mentioned in Christmas Session 1685/6 Robert Thorp of Hardwick, for not working on the highways in Aylesbury, where he owns some land. Midsummer Session 1685 John Thorp of Colebrook, gentleman, gauger. Included in the list for Names of persons who produced Sacrament Certificates, took the oaths provided in the act of 1 William and Mary, c. 1, and subscribed the declaration against transubstantiation. Midsummer Session 1689 Dunton William Thorp vice Edward Duncombe. (Sess. R. 20/48). Petty Constable and Tithing men sworn, Bucks sessions records 1706 Appeal of William Thorp ... of Grandborough against their assessments to rates. Bucks sessions 1705 Robert Thorp of Hardwyck, for building unlawful dove-lofts. 1705 Sessions.
Will post marriages later but have to go out now.
Regards Steph

As you can see, these don't quite fit what you're after and Phillimores is known for missing some parishes out although Bucks is pretty extensive.

Hi Many thanks to both of you, I guess I have come to the end of the line on this branch of my tree. The info youve given me has been helpful though, as a few of the names do match up to my tree! Thankyou both so much
