« on: Thursday 21 August 08 07:08 UTC (UK) »

Im doing my dads side of the family and as i dont have a lot of family left,i dont have a lot of info. Im looking for my grandfather FREDERICK EDWARD HALL born 1906,i think he was born in WESTBURY or SHIPSTON. Later he moved to Monmouthshire ( BLACKWOOD). His wifes maiden name was PICK(i think). Can anyone help? Thanks for your time.

Alyson,

At Freebmd - http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl - you will find birth and marriage data to enable tracing your family back to about 1837 without too much trouble but it will mean buying a few certificates to be reasonable sure of your findings.

Your grandfather's birth was indeed registered in the Reg. Dist of W-o-S in 1906 but for where he was born you need his b-cert. which can be bought on-line from the GRO.

Regards

Chas

Alyson,

I have just started researching my family history (Pick). I have visited the Forest of Dean family history forum and can see on there you have posted about William Pick, who I believe is my great great Grandfather.

I would be interested to learn what you have found out because it might save me some work!

Thanks in advance.

Hi Alyson,

Edward Pick is my grandfather and from what you say his sister was Mary Pick.  Their parents were William and Jane (Dorrington).  So William Pick is my gr8 grandfather - this makes us cousins!

From the Forest of Dean web site we know that John and Ann Pick were the parents of William Pick.  This is as far as I have got.  Do you have any more information?
