Ecclefechan Co-operative Movement
« on: Thursday 21 August 08 11:16 BST (UK) »

Hi Rootschatters,

I was wondering if any of you could tell me anything about the Ecclefechan Co-operative Movement, which I suppose was one of the forerunners of the Labour Party?  Huh
I have tried to do research up here but have been unable to find anything on the movement. I was hoping that someone in Dumfries/Ecclefechan area may be kind enough to check local history areas of their libraries.
My interest comes from the fact that according to one line of a book, my great great great great grandfather, James Bryson, was a leading figure in the local movement. He was born in 1803, and died 6 November 1879.

Thanks again.
regards
