Why would someone who is shown as born  Deeping Northamptonshire, be shown as christened at Deeping St James Lincolnshire.

It was probably the closest church.

There is not a parish of Deeping in Northants. Maxey, Northborough and Peakirk are the Northants parishes  adjacent to Deeping St James.
There is an area called Deeping Gate in the parish of Maxey.

The family in question are shown at Deeping Gate from 1841 - 71. I've 'googled ' it and found a lot of information on the place, which makes things much clearer.
