Hello All,

I new to this site and wanted to post some of the information I'm researching.

Looking for Harkins / Harkin / Ferry information in Ireland. Not sure where to start my research in Ireland. I have a great deal of information after he arrived to the States but nothing beyond that. I have a Neal Harkins, married a Grace Ferry. Their son (my ggGrandfather) Hugh came to the states about 1848-1850. He was born October 16, 1821. Looking forward to any help someone my provide.

Hello Bill & welcome to RC,you may already have this info but in case you don't in Griffiths Valuation,the name Harkins is listed 33 in all 6 of them are from Donegal -3 in the parish of Tullyfern 2 in the parish Taughboyne & 1 in the parish Clonleigh.Then the name Ferry,there are 324 in all listed, 280 of them are from Donegal (must have been there county ah !) 7 of them are from Tullyfern,13 from Taughboyne & none in Clonleigh.-I'm thinking along the lines of when Neal & Grace got together maybe their families didn't live to far away + the interesting thing there is a Hugh Ferry  listed in the parish of Tullyfern - wondering if Hugh maybe a name that came down the family on Graces side ? food for though.Hope some one will come up with better info for you ,Happy hunting regards Nipy
