James Crisp bn Swaffham Prior Census please
« on: Sunday 31 August 08 09:14 UTC (UK) »

Hi

I am looking for James Crisp born c1827 Swaffham Prior on the census in 1851 and 1871, and would be grateful of any help.

In 1841 he is at Town Street, Swaffham Prior age 20

In 1861 he is in Norwood Middlesex age 33 unmarried Groom

In 1881 he is back in Swaffham Prior living with his sister Sarah Willis

He dies in 1885.

Many thanks

Hi,
The only James Crisp I could find near your date in Swaffham Prior was baptised on 18 May 1819 along with Sarah,
John and Jane. All children of John and Jane Crisp. Farmer.
No ages are given for the children.

Tempsford.

Hi Tempsford

Thank you, that James Crisp died in September 1819 he was the second son that John had called James. This was one was baptised 15th November 1835 at Swaffham Prior another bulk baptism along with siblings Jane Eleanor and Edward, parents also John and Jane.

Hi Tempsford

No problem  Grin  Thanks for looking. I am sure that half of his siblings disappeared to Middlesex after the 1841 but thought I'd post on the Cambridgeshire board first.

I can't find him in either 1851 or 1871, using Ancestry.

His census age of 20 in 1841 is some way adrift, as he would have been only c14. Edward's age at 20 is also wrong (he disappeared to Kent!)

We don't just look in Cambs - we also check countrywide if they're not to be found locally

Hi David

I agree about the census ages in 1841 but assumed they were my family as no other Crisps in the village at this time according to PR's and census.  There were no ages at baptism for this last three, they were all baptised after their father died.

Thanks for looking  Grin
