Hi I am trying to find the birth of my great grandfather Patrick PURCELL born abt 1830 Limerick, Ireland. Also does he appear on any census records.
He was married to a Cecilua Wood abt 1858. they had two children in Australia in 1860 and 1865.
I am not sure when they went to Australia either
Any help would be welcomed

Civil registration of births in Ireland started in 1864 (too late for Patrick) and first complete census for Ireland is 1901.
Limerick is both a city and a county. To search for other records in Ireland you need to know the family's religion and where they lived (parish if not actual townland).

Thanks for that. I don't have much to go on as there is conflicting info on both of his childrens birth certs from Australia

I am not sure if Patrick Purcell married Cecilia Wood at all as there seems to be no marriage recorded anywhere in Australia or Scotland where Cecilia Wood was born.
