Has anyone already done some work unravelling the Sylvesters in Nottingham/Leicestershire? My grandfather left Nottingham about 100 years ago and I have traced what I think are the right roots back to approx 1780.  But, like many families, there is no consistency in the spelling and they had a tendency to stick to a few first names and John, William and James appear regularly and confusingly

They were all involved with lace-making which would seem to point towards a possible Belgian/Dutch/Hougenot connection but I haven't got there yet.

Any help welcome.
