John McLaren - Alloa
« on: Thursday 01 October 09 22:22 UTC (UK) »

Looking for a death for the above, dob c1786 Alloa.  Married Jean Watson in 1808 Alloa.  On his daughters death cert (Jean Hall c1817) his occupation is given as Master Mariner, have them on the 1851 census at Clackmannan, he is listed as ship owner and sailor...Nothing on SP that I can find  Huh consequently have no parents for him.

Don't know why..but this is ringing bells somewhere, it may have been mentioned in other "posts"  Roll Eyes

Any help appreciated.  as always patvp

Am not doing any good at all here....just spent another 30 odd credits on SP.
Cannot find a birth nor a death...possibility in 1785 John McKleran to John and Margaret Ferguson...don't have nuch chance with naming pattern as they only had 3 children..alive that is  Tongue John 1808, John 1812, James 1814, Jean 1817 all born Clackmannan.

Is there anywhere that anyone may know where Master mariners were listed or registered or "whatever"

Can anyone help pls.....Regards patvp
