Craig and Moffat families
« on: Wednesday 03 September 08 08:16 UTC (UK) »

Hi
Looking for any info on Craig and Moffat families in Crailing and surrounding districts. The families seem to have been agricultural labourers and lived in Upper Nisbit, Crailing, Hawse, Lillisleaf, Blainslie and Oxnam. Hoping to visit the area soon so any info on these families greatly appreciated

Regards

Hi Gadget
Adam Craig b.1837 married Elizabeth Moffat (1837) I think her parents were William Moffat (1806)and Agnes Rutherford (1806). I can't get any further than this.

Hi

Have you got deaths or marriage for them? And, if so, were they after 1854. Official reg came in in 1855 and these certs give info on parents.

There is a marriage entry for them in 1862, Crailing:

www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

You can view and download the image from the above site. it's pay to view but reasonable (£1.20, in this case)  This will give parents' names for confirmation.

Again, an Agnes Moffat, m.s. Rutherford, died Crailing in 1876, aged 74. This cert should give her parents names.
