Hi
Help wanted please..l'm trying to find my great great gran's (apparent) husband. she was a Jane scarth originally from Hinderwell North riding, who had my great grandad Fred out of marriage, then she moved in with her brother. My grandad Fred's son was told she either married later in life to a Mr Duck or a Mr Lewis..l've found a marriage in whitby for a Jane scarth to an Edward Lewis in 1901. l can't find either of them in the 1891 census, mainly as l don't know how old Edward was or where he came from.
My grandad also says there was a link with a Lewis family from Goldsborough near whitby. now l find a family at Kettleness(very cose to there)- William Lewis (head) - in the 1861 census, but no Edward on it, the family don't appear in the 1871 census, can you find them please, and do they now have an Edward (son) ? and if so, where does he go up to his marriage ?
A lot to ask, would be very helpfull though..Thank you
Andrea

HI
This is the same Jane Scarth at her brothers in Egton along with their parents and an Aunt also - nice close knit family
RG12; Piece: 3993; Folio 21; Page 9
There is a Fred Scarth age 8 born Egton but he is down as a Grandson to John and Hannah his wife.
Do you have the birth cert of your Fred Scarth that your referring to?

Hi
Thanks very much.
Jane Scarth was born Hinderwell in 1854, she had Fred (father unknown) in 1883. She did then move in with her brother John and his family. in that census Fred should actually be down as Nephew to the head, not grandson, although his grandmother did live with them also.(Hannah)
so yes, sorry for the limited info, but that is the Jane l'm looking for. She must have married soon after the census, to Edward Lewis, so as the 1901 census was before then we now can't find out what happened after. But, it's Edward l'm struggling with. The marriage (i think is) Whitby vol 9d page 765 Sep 1901
Can anyone find him at either Egton, Goldsborough or Kettleness up to then ?
Possible family for him is...
piece:RG9/3650 place:Lythe - north riding District:9 Parish:Lythe Ecc Parish:Kettleness Folio:108 Page:23 Schedule:132 Address:Kettleness village Census:
William Head 48 b-Hinderwell Farmer, wife Mary 35 b-Kettleness , son Philip 6, son William 4, Dau Elizabeth 2, servnt Isaac Cornforth 43, servnt Dorothy Lewis 18 b-Middlesbrough. Thanks again

HI dawn
Have you considered obtaining that marriage certificate to be certain it is your Jane Scarth?
You could always put a check in that father of bride must be the father that you know to be Janes dad.
It's just that I've been down this road before, you know going along with family tales and ending up with the wrong person totally.
Do you know when your Jane passed away?
