Meadows family move to London
« on: Saturday 06 September 08 09:29 UTC (UK) »

I am trying to find out when they moved from Titchmarsh Northamton to Camberwell.

I am particulary interested in an Isaac Alfred  my GG grandfather On the 1881 census he was still in Titchmarsh but in 1891 he was in Camberwell parish of St George. He was a brewers drayman.

He had four  other brothers     John who moved between 1871 and 1881  to Bermondsey
William between 1871 and1881 to Hendon
Charles between 1871 and 1881 to Lambeth
Thomas between 1881 and 1891 to Camberwell    All the brothers  were draymen.
Is it possible to look in trade directories ?  Would they even be included?

Thanks Wendy.

Maybe they'd be in Trade Directories... if they owned the business it would be more likely i'd think...
However the trade directories I've seen have been grouped according to location/town/city... so you'd have to try the dirc\ectories for the places you know they were in.

The Directories are online, at a Leicester University site, from memory.

I suspect you'll be quite busy searching but if you have no other clues, it's worth a try.

Wendy, let us know how you get on... it maybe quite a painstaking search but even one scarp of info can move things along.. All the best.
