1911 Census - COMPLETED
« on: Saturday 06 September 08 18:05 UTC (UK) »

Does anyone know when they are supposed to get the 1911 Irish Census online for County Roscommon or County Monaghan?  I read that they are posting them County by County, and, that they had already finished with Dublin and some surrounding Counties.  Just wondering if anybody knows.  Thank you.

Moderator's Note: 1911 census for all Irish counties is now online

1911 Dublin is only one available at the moment. Antrim, Down and Kerry are expected in October 2008 with dates not mentioned for the rest on their website but Roscommon and Monaghan are fairly well down the list.

Thank you for the website.  I have it somewhere.  It's too bad it takes so long, but, what can you do?  I'm just glad they still have the Census for that year.  It's a shame what happened to the other Censuses.

I was wondering about that too.  I'm anxious to access the Roscommon census and Wexford too.  I've so many questions that could be answered in the 1911 census.

I hear you.  I'm anxious for the 1911 Ireland Census for Roscommon and Monaghan.  Alot of my questions might be answered by looking at that Census.  I have a few of my great aunts or uncles remaining in Ireland, and, I'd like to know, exactly, which brothers and sisters.  It's too bad, the Counties are so far down on the list of Counties to be added, but, at least, it's being done, that's the main thing.  Good Luck with your search!!!

Just in case you didn't know the 1901 census for Roscommon has been transcribed and can be found at

Thank you.  I have the information for my ancestor's in Curraghroe for that one.  The author or transcriber, Mr. McDonnell, helped me with that one because although I knew their last name "Noonan",in the USA,  I forgot they were "Noone's" in Ireland.  I really think my ancestor's should have been more considerate and left the spelling of their name alone.  I don't know why is was changed.  lol

Cannot see any Noone's on the Curraghroe 1901 Census. If you have access to a LDS library, the 1911 Census for Curraghroe is on film 2193126 item 3.

Thank you very much, Coolcam1.  That's good to know.  I have saved your information.  There is an LDS located in this city.

Duxbury3, good luck with that. Have since noticed that there were several Noon/Noone families in Lissonuffy Civil Parish in 1901. If your people are somehow listed in a Townland other than Curraghroe than you could order a different 1911 film if this link works http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=titlefilmnotes&columns=*%2C0%2C0&titleno=158537&disp=Census+returns%2C+Lissonuffy+Parish+%28R++

As previously posted by swebby, 1901 is online.

That's them - Noon(e) for Lissonuffy.  We have it narrowed down somewhat to Trila Dillon, Curraghroe, Lissonuffy, County Roscommon.  My grandfather, Michael, left in 1907 for NYC,  following his brothers and sisters.  That's when his name was changed to "Noonan."  We don't know why.  His older brother changed it, somewhere over the Atlantic crossing, from "Noone" to "Noonan".  All his brothers and sisters did the same.  It's a mystery to us.
Thank you for your help.
