Death or Burial of a Charles Cole Asplen
« on: Friday 28 January 05 19:30 UTC (UK) »

Can anyone help, I'm trying to find out the death / whereabouts of my Great Grandfather's death.
The Camdex online record has a massive section missing, this seems to be the case for all surnames.

Anyway Charles Cole Asplen was born 1864, married 1887 to a Lydia Lousia Stonebridge (Lily or Lissie).  I know that Lily Asplen was buried 1959 at Ascension of St Giles and St Lukes of Huntingdon Road, Cambridge, although there is no record in the monumental records for this Parish.  Thank you for any help.

PS. If there is any Asplen's out there, reply anyway.

Could the surname have been spelt Asplin? Only I have a Charlie Asplin that lived in Stretham in Cambridge.

Thanks Margaret,

But he lived at 17 Gloucester Terrace, Cambridge, which is now the New Shire Hall buildings behind The Isaac Newton Pub on Huntingdon Road.  He should have been Asplen, but I know that his daughter Marjorie marriage record shows Asplin, so he could be under Asplin, but it is Cambridge.
I hoping to get my Grandfathers marriage certificate over the next few days (1922) and this will tell me if he was a live then.
My own Mother doesn't remember him but his wife Lydia (Lily) as My Mum and Dad married in 1951 and lived two doors up!
Thanks
Michael
