the program appears to be a one-off, and follows Eddie Hobbs, John Waters and Jasmine Guinness.
Next week at the same time is episode one of the Irish version of 'Who Do you think you are ?'

How long has the Irish WDYTYA been running ? I watched last night's progtamme . Fascinating . I hadn't realised that the worldwide price of butter was set in Cork . I wondered whether most of those whose ancestors were most affected by the famine now live outside Ireland . The programme did answer one of my own questions - My gggrandfather was in the navy throughout these years . He married in Waterford in 1846 . I read the ships log for that week , in 1846 , and was open-mouthed at the amount of food that was put on board in Waterford . There were several references in the programme to the general availability of food .

digiguide does not say who on first - but the RTE website lists the people as Ardal O'Hanlon, Charlie Bird, Joe Duffy, Dana Rosemary Scallon and Pamela Flood - so possibly in that order....

I've just spotted a page on the RTE website that says Charlie Bird will be the first episode...
"The first episode features Charlie Bird, who knows nothing about his family roots. His family history is a blank page, and every revelation is a genuine surprise. His only starting-point is a grandfather from Bermuda who brought electricity to Macroom ... but why did he change his name?"

I'm lucky , I'm in Belfast and it's part of theVirgin package , so I watched last night's programme. I wonder whether any British filmmakers were watching - John Waters went around the old 1840's workhouse (in Roscommon?) and it seemed to be untouched . It would be so interesting to see a programme about it

the people are probably only known in Ireland, maybe they should have spoken to at least one person with an international profile... maybe Bono, Mary Robinson, Bertie Ahern ?
RTE do stream online some programs but I think this only includes news and some sporting events.
Shane.

Several countries are now doing their own versions . It would be so useful to be able to tune in to all of them ; it would be a good way to learn how to research in other countries . And we might even find branches of our own emigrant families ! An international WDYTYA site/ TV station .
