army records

I can anybody help or advise please, I have just found the regiment number of my grandfather from ww1.  Joseph Richard Illidge, born 1885. Runcorn Cheshire.  Cheshire Regiment, number24617.  Where do I start searching for his army record.   Thanks Kassi

Kassi, there is a link on the main page for Armed Forces.  I suggest you put a post on this section of the site. There are some very informed rootschatters on this section who will be able to help you with very detailed information.  I know because they have helped me in the past.

Go to 'rootschat com'  at the top left of the page (underneath all the banners etc) the one with black writing by a leaf, not the one with brown writing and a blue background, and scroll down until you come to armed forces in the main heading 'occupation and one name interest'.
