Hi - My name is Des Blackadder, editor of the Ballymena Times.  If I can help with any queries in the Mid-Antrim area please drop me a line.
I have some pretty good stuff on Mid-Antrim men in WW1.
Plus if you want to send a roots search letter to the paper, we'll publish it for free in our letters to the editor column.
The address of the Times is edbt[----at---]mortonnewspapers.com.
You can also browse for Ballymena Times on the web for our site.
Cheers, bye for now.
Oh and if anyone has any great Blackadder stuff, I'd love to know!

HI Des, and thank you so much for your help. I had an Uncle Patrick Maghee also, Uncle Jack Maghee, their sister Cassie was my g.mother.I have photos of all I've mentioned from the ww1 Wink
I would like to know if there are any lines of the Maghee's that were related to the Breens and Cardinal Heenan? I'm really not sure if Antrim was their part of the world, it's only been suggested by my dad.
Thank you in advance for any help offered.

Hello Des,

The name Blackadder is a name that sticks in the mind. This is probably due to Rowan Atkinson's excellent comedy series on the television. There was an R. O. Blackadder, manager of the Belfast Banking Co., in Dundalk in 1852

Hello Des,

I've spotted a link to a site that mentions Blackadder, Crumlin, Ant., Ireland 1827. The site also contains a photograph of Sarah Guest, the great great Grandmother of the person who created the site. Sarah was born about 1859 at Crewe (or Altrincham) in Cheshire. Her parents were James Guest and Eliza Blackadder.

Hi Des,

There are three Blackadders listed in the Dictionary of Scottish Architects, 1840-1940.

Block of shops and offices for John W. Blackadder, Solicitor, Grahamston Station, Falkirk.
Bungalow for John W. Blackadder Falkirk.
Villa for Thomas Blackadder Falkirk.

Hello Des,

I've a mystery Blackadder.

Who was Fred Blackadder of Wanderers Club, Dublin? I presume this may have been Wanderers RFC which was founded in 1870. www.wanderersfcrugby.com/index.php

He was a mason in the Trim Dublin Lodge 494 AM5772 in 1925. The Lodge met at Masonic Hall, Molesworth Street, Dublin. My grandfather was a member at the same time.

Des

I would like to thank you and your team for all your hard work.

if there were medal's..... for work far and beyond....

Perhaps RootsChat should have medal's.....for people whom go out of their way......as ONE piece of information COULD have taken months of hard digging to find.

I give you and others who remain anonymous ...my own personal medal..." an Ulster fry medal"   Grin
for those who go out of their way to help others.....

A big THANK YOU TO YOU ALL

Steve
