I have no information on him and have searched the records but nothing  Sad I am wondering if he was just a Tuach and added the name Hossack as he bought my GF up who was Walter Hossack!!

Hello Janey

Welcome to Rootschat.  Can you please provide some info so that the 'lurkers' can help.  What info do you have apart from the names -

Do you have a birth or death entry for your Walter - do you have any census records.

As you're probably aware - if you enter Tuach only in the IGI, you some up with a variety of that name in Urray.

The IGI also lists a total of 346 John Hossacks.  There is a possiblity of him being ch. John Hossack and adding the name himself in later life.  i've seen it happen in  a family branch - addition of a name not given at birth.

Have tried searching for a John Tuach Hossack on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk  without result.

The more info you give - the more help those passing can potentially give.

Regards,   Steve  :O)

Thanks Steve for your help and advice.

Trouble is I dont have a lot of information. My GF Walter Hossack born Fodderty junction in 1900 no where to be seen on the 1901 census, his mother however is away working in Cupar. My GF eventually came to London to join his mother in 1916 and marries in 1924 and John Tuach Hossack is listed as his Father and with an occupation of a Farmer, I still have no idea who this man is, I am told by family that he is an Uncle and brought my GF up - how true that is I dont know. I have searched all the records available online and cant find a thing which is why I thought I would ask if anyone knows of the name. My GF never ever knew who his Father was, I have run out of ideas now  Roll Eyes

Sadly this is all the information I have.

Thanks again

MMh - bit of a mystery.  Tried a scotlandwide search, as you have, on the 1901 census looking for a Walter Tuach or Hossack - no joy.
