Hi  Smiley

Could you perhaps tell us what you know about Adam and his family - his age, wife, children, etc. It might help us not to duplicate what you already have.

Regards

Hi Gadget

Got side tracked last night so didn't see your reply til this morning.

Adam b. 1837 at Oxnam married to Elizabeth Moffat b. 1837 Crailing d. 25 Aug 1908 death registered at Langshaw but I think she was still living at Blainslie.

They had 6 children Elizabeth (my Grandmother) Margaret, Agnes, Christian, William and James.

William seems to be the one who registered his mother's death I think he lived in the area all his life, I remember my father talking about Lilliesleaf.

Haven't been able to find Adam's death on the Scotland's people site or any record of his parents who I think were Joseph (1766) and Margaret (Forsythe) although I'm not sure about her maybe it was Agnes.

Thanks

In 1841 he is in an extended family plus boarders household

Hawse, Jedburgh
Reg 792 ED 7 Page 11

Joseph Craig, 75 labourer
Robert, 35, labourer
Margaret, 30
Margaret, 70  - wondering if this is really 10 (see next posting)
Agnes, 8
Joseph, 5
Adam, 4
Andrew, 2

All born Roxburghshire

plus 6 who appear to be boarders. All labourers, b.Ireland

The 1841 doesn't give relationships but it looks as if Joseph might well be Robert's father.
Note that in 1841 ages of those over 15were grouped into age bands so Robert would be between 35 and 39 and Margaret 30-34

Hi Gadget

Many Thanks for all that info.

I think you're right about Margaret's age in 1841 It should have been 10 not 70 which is why we thought Joseph's wife was called Margaret not Agnes.

I will now try to sort out all the different generations of my Scottish ancestors,

Many Thanks
Amersidelaw.

I'll be in Blainslie at Christmas, if not before.  My brother lives in Chapel Mains.  I'll be in Lauder too.
If you have any specific addresses, I'd be happy to take photos.
No problem for me to take photos in the Lauder cemeteries either (have some already).
