Hello
I'm looking for more information on the marriage of my ancestors Henry BAKER and Mary GOLDSWAIN, who were married on 17th April 1825. If anybody who has access to the full transcriptions (that is, including fathers' names and occupations of all parties) could have a look, it would be greatly appreciated. I am hoping that if I can find Mary's father's name, it might make it easier to tie her in with the other Goldswains in the West Wycombe/Marlow area.
Many thanks
Martin

Hi Peony
I'm not sure I have seen that record - thanks. No mention of fathers, though?
It's all very strange. The Goldswain surname is so rare she must be related to the others in the area, but I've never been able to find her baptism.
Thanks
Martin

Fathers' names are not included in the register entries prior to 1837 - there simply isn't a space or box for it.

Hi,
Have you had a look at the West Wycombe Parish records? I have not got access to them at the moment. But I counted eight Goldswain marriages between 1772 and 1834, when looking up your information.

Hi Peony
I don't live in Bucks any more, so can't get to Aylesbury that often, so I'm not sure if I've looked at the parish records for marriages. I've looked for Mary's birth in both West Wycombe and Marlow and not been able to find anything, which, given the rarity of the surname, is a bit odd.
Hi Nell
I was convinced I'd seen fathers' names on a couple of marriage records I have for Stokenchurch in 1787, but on closer inspection it was just the names of the witnesses. Oh well.
Thanks to you both.
