Hello loandy
Welcome to Rootschat. A tip. I'd imagine you've got the address from the 1841 census? Go to www.freecen.org.uk. Scroll the adresses either side and write them down. Then go to the NLS website and play around with their maps and instead of the 1 address you'll get a better idea of the rough area as you'll have several addresses to choose from.
I've just had a look at their 6in first ed maps and can't immediately see it, but I'm at work and had better get back to it. Don't be shy about posting your couples names as I'm researching the Eckford headmaster at the time - although I live well away from there.
Regards, Steve

If you click on the link - select the 'map' tag and click down till go get to Eckford then click on the 'Historical' tab.

Hello Wal,
As I said donm't be afraid to post nameshere - and people willswarm to help - they usually do. Have you taken onboard my tip regarding the free census for 1841 and tried addresses either side of Buckedge?
Remember if you're successful, you can amend your post header to say 'Completed'. I've a contact in Eckford and shall drop them a line now.
I'd start another for the Kelso query. Try to give as much info as you have for the couple being searched for.
Regards, Steve :O)

Try this site. I had a quick look and couldn't see it, but try different variations and other areas. I have records where the wrong parish or even county was recorded.

Hi Judy, this gives me another avenue to explore, at this stage I'm convinced that it is some sort of spelling mistake so I am looking at anything that is close, I have already found 1 or 2 possibilities. Regards, Wal
