Censuses for Whitechapel Hunns
« on: Sunday 21 September 08 04:48 UTC (UK) »

Hey, I'm looking for a family of HUNNs who lived in Whitechapel in 1848. James, a greengrocer, and his wife, Maria. All I have is that they lived in High Street (this is from court proceedings, where Maria was a witness to coin counterfeiting)

Thanks

Thanks Sue.

Interesting to note 'potato salesman' as in the court, Maria specifically mentions the "Prisoner" buying 2lb of potatoes.

What relation was James Wabe?

Excellent....

I found a death for James in 1873, St. Saviour and for Maria in 1883, Hackney. I am having trouble locating her on the '81 (FamilySearch)

So it looks like the Vales are connected. Somehow....

Any further clues?

Can't seem to locate them in 1841, unless anyone else can try. Can't seem to find a definite for the Vales either.  Cry

Any idea when James and maria married.

I believe they were married in 1839, Newington, Surrey. Maria's maiden name was SPONG, and I found her baptism in 1817, Lambeth (d/o James & Dinah). No luck with James however. This info from FreeBMD & FamilySearch

I think that's likely, but can't find her on the '81 either. I'm really not having much luck today... Wink
