I am looking for Richard Woodage b.1826 in Compton.He married Mary Challis/Challies.Richard was the illegitimate son of Sarah Woodage.I am also looking for his son John b1850/1. Any info on this family would be much appreciated.  Pips

From register transcripts for Compton

marriage 1851 Aug 2nd
Richard Woodage lab (no father given) married Mary Challis d/o James (lab)

baptisms
1851 Oct 12th John
1853 Mar 27th Fanny (died 1853)
1855 Jan 7th Sarah
1860 Jan 29th George Alfred
all children of Richard (lab) & Mary

marriage 1871 Oct 14th
John Woodage age 20 (father Richard of Compton) to
Mary Heath age 19 (father William - lab)

however according to the registers Richard Woodage baptised 1826 August 20th was the illeg. son of Hannah not Sarah

there are no marriages for either Hannah or Sarah of the right dates in the parish
no burials for any possible Sarah and only this one for Hannah - which I think would make her to old to be Richards mother
1842 Hannah Woodage aged 63

There is no burial for Richard (b1826) or his wife Mary

I assume you have seen the 1881 census in Ham for John (they have the age transcribed wrong) his wife Mary and their young family?

 Thanks to you both This is the family I have been looking for.Another Woodage researcher gave me Richards mo as Sarah.Mistakes happen.Thanks now I will search for Hannah.
