Robert Munro Sheriff Officer
« on: Monday 08 December 08 17:17 UTC (UK) »

Hi,

I'm trying to find some information on Robert Munro, a Sheriff Officer -  at Alloa Sheriff Court, I presume.  He married Catherine Donaldson in Alloa in 1817.  They had three children I know of, Isabel, John and William.

Intriguingly, according to the 1841 census Robert Munro was recorded as being born Overseas - Foreign.

Any suggestions on the way forward would be appreciated.

Thanks.

found the census on freecen but cant find him on other census.
interestingly when put details on A* there is another robert monro who was a sheriff comes up b. 1806, glasgow (spelt Munroe).  wonder whether on 1841 'foreign' could mean outside clackmannanshire. however it does say overseas.

i would think one of the main libraries might have a list of sheriffs or those in office. worth contacting. details rpob on genuki.
