Hi,

Thanks once again to you both. Walter is related, first we've heard about children. The question now is who is his wife? I've no idea how we get marriage records in the U.S.

The mystery continues!

Thanks once again

Hi All,

I've just re-read the 1930 census. Walter shown aged 30, first married at 25 and daughter Evelyn aged 10?

The mystery deepens. (Its early morning UK, that's my excuse for not noticing first time around)

In the 1900 census Thomas Hunter and wife Jane have 4 children living.
Four others must have died between 1886 and 1900. Ideas for tracing them would be appreciated. All would have been born Bayonne.

Thanks in anticipation

These links explain how to get vital records for events that occurred in New Jersey only:
http://www.state.nj.us/health/vital/tips.shtml
http://www.state.nj.us/health/vital/genealogical.shtml

If you don't have one already, you might want to try to get an obituary for Thomas.  It might mention where all his children are living and any who pre-deceased him.  There's a death notice for a Thomas Hunter in 1920 mentioned here:  http://www.hudsoncountynjgenealogy.org/databases/db-btdn.html

Thanks again for your help. Sorry for the delay in getting back to everyone.
I've been in touch with Bill Miller and he's been really helpful. The obits were full of information and I'm working my way through them. I now find one of Thomas's daughters (Marion) went to Colombia having married a Pinzon/ De Pinzone and was there in 1944 when Jane Thompson Hunter, her mother died.

Sounds like another interesting twist.
