Edmondson/Edmondston etc Belfast
« on: Thursday 25 September 08 16:32 UTC (UK) »

Dear all,

I have posted regarding this family on the Derry board (http://tinylink.com/?r8CqpN4kYl), as family legend says that this branch was originally from Coleraine.

However, after consulting English census records it seems that:

Mary Jane EDMONDSTON (aka Edmundson, Edmunston etc)
was born in Belfast c. 1846.

The family were supposed to be CABINET MAKERS.

I understand that registration of births did not start for another 20 years so what should I do to follow this one up?

I am new to Irish genealogy so would be grateful of any assistance.

Best,
Samuel Adamson

Edmundson cabinet makers listed in Mary Lennons website in Street directories for 1860, 1907,1910

from census 1911 in website www.belfastfamilyhistory.com, here is someone who could be a young brother born about 1862.  Could he also be a commercial traveller selling cabinets?
Frank M Edmundson Year:  1911
Age:  49 Sex:  male
Relgion:  Presbyterian Marital Status:  married
Occupation:  commercial traveller Birth Place:  Coleraine Co Derry
could be coincidences etc

Mary Janes birth is going to be a church record , if you Coleraine oral history is right for her then
Coleraine presbyterian records are needed. have you tried www.familysearch.com
Good luck, Jim

There are quite a few Presbyterian churches in Coleraine: 1st, 2nd (New Row), 3rd (Terrace Row) as well as many more near Coleraine.
