** UPDATED WITH NEW INFO IN A BID TO GENERATE NEW INTEREST**

I am looking to gather information on my Grandmother, whom considering she only died 35 years ago, there is little information on within the immediate family.

Her Name is Mary Cunningham, born circa 1903 in BALLYMAHON , MULLINGAR.
I do not have any parents names but i know she had  slightly older brother Frank / Francis and also a step sister called Annie - there is a view that her mother died whilst Mary was still young and the father remarried.  She left Tullamore and went to Dublin and met my Grandad, Augustine Keyes.

ADDITIONAL INFO:  A story has come to light from a reliable source.  It relates to an older brother whom was murdered one morning leaving church by the 'Black & Tans'. I would assume that this would be pre 1922 and my Nan was perhaps 14 years old, so i am guessing 1918?
It is felt that the mother  of Mary never recovered fully and eventually died in, what i have estimated from info available, circa 1940 in an asylum / hospital.

I would welcome any knowledge of this event or any other information detailed here.  In addition, if you know of where i might access information like newspapers or parish information - i am hoping that an incident such as the murder of a parishioner might have warranted some mention somewhere?

I am aware that this is little in the way of information and i guess rather than answers, some good direction in terms of resources would be helpful
Thanks

Marc

there''s a few possible matches of the familysearch site for Mary Cunningham, born Ballymahon district, Co. Westmeath - e.g.

 Name: Mary Cunningham
 Reg. district: Ballymahon
 Record type: Birth
 date : Jul - Sep 1904
 Volume: 3 / page: 19

about two pages of results from 1901 to 1906

the link to the familysearch index is  : http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#c=1408347;p=2;t=searchable

Hi Shane, Thank you for your interest on this topic.  I had very little response when i posted and eventually give up and tried a different tack - and found Mary Cunningham (born 22/11/1903) but asking A very charming lady at Tullamore parish church - she also told me that shemarried Augustine Keys, 7/12/1926 in Dublin (my grandda) so i knew i had the correct record.  In addition, she told me of two siblings James 19/12/1895; Dan 9/10/1901. - so now i will move on to them.

I have never found my Nan's record with the GRO or FS... that said, i am losing faith in FS as i occasional use known fact to check data on FS and it just is not present - not on the main site nor pilot?
So i will still use in but not quite with the same faith & sense of expectation.
Thanks again

Slan go foill

there are people who managed to miss civil registration - I had the same problem with one of my grandmothers. No sign in the GRO under any spelling, eventually found her on a parish microfilm at the national library.

I know you have the details already - but I wonder if your Mary's birth was registered a little late - I have seen births registered  up to six months later. That would push the year to 1904.

Hi...is there a Ballymahon area for Mullingar? Maybe Ballymahon births were registered in Mullingar.

I live 18 miles from Mullingar....in Ballymahon, Co Longford. Just a suggestion!
