Hello:
I am searching a family by the name of Main. I got back as far as 1841 and I have hit a brick wall. Her name is Janet Main and I would think it is her married name. In the the 1851 census it says she was born in Ardersier, Invernesshire, Scotland about 1793. It also list her occupation as Chelsea Pensioner's Widow. Is there anyway to find out who her husband was.

You obviously have the family in 1851, so here they are in 1841. Much the same as ten years later! It looks like Janet is already widowed. Sad

James ", m, 13
Christina ", f, 11
Ann Porteus, f, 25, female servant

Marriage showing for a Donald Main and Janet Cuthbert on the 27th of February 1823 in Nairn. Three children also showing, Donald/Daniel are sometimes used for the same person.

Donald Main, b. 1823 Ardersier (father Donald)
James Main, b. 1826 Ardersier (father Daniel)
Chirstain [sic] Main, b. 1828 Ardersier (father Donald)

Here's a birth for Janet that fits well with naming patterns. If she lived after 1855, the death certificate may help confirm the names.

Janet Cuthbert, b. 11 Sep and bapt. 13 Sep 1790 Ardersier - parents James Cuthbert and Christy Grant
