Jane and Jean are interchangeable names in Scotland - see www.whatsinaname.net
This looks a likely second marriage for John Rodger, father to Jane:
1925 John Rodger and Lily Tawse DUKE in MAINS AND STRATHMARTINE, ANGUS
I can't see wife Jane's death on SP, maybe she died abroad?
John Rodger married Jane SLOAN in 1888.
You have a lot of names and dates now to let you go on line on SP and view the certificates. You can then save these images and print them off. Much cheaper than ordering extracts! For £1.20 you can search and view a certificate on line with Scotlands People (min. £6GB gets you 30 units. 20p to search/1 unit and £1.00 to view - 5 units). So, for £6.00 you can get 5 certs. if you know what you are looking for!

Thanks again Monica. I will go online now and get some certs. You've made it so much easier (and cheaper ) by narrowing down the choices.
Now I know where the ring that I knew as "Auntie Lily's" has come from too.
I have had a look at the CWGC re David Rodger and there are a couple of possibilities there (if indeed he did die abroad). I don't feel I have enough information on him yet to post a question on the armed forces section here. I will try to get some more exact details first.

Have fun tracing back and putting the details together for your father. I could do more but I think half the fun is tracing back and making the discoveries yourself, means more
However...if you get stuck...give a shout
