The Salvation Army Pembrokeshire
« on: Tuesday 30 September 08 20:29 UTC (UK) »

I am researching the Salvation Army in Pembrokeshire from it's first opening in Neyland in 1883, and its continuing growth of Churches in Pembroke dock, Pembroke, Milford Haven, Haverford West, Tenby, Narbeth until today when only the Church in Tenby remains if you can help, please email me. or post information. If there are any photographs i would love to be able to copy them. Thank you
Major Martyn

I have a little more information about the salvation army in Pembrokeshire. if you could help further it would be very much appreciated.
The Salvation Army in Pembroke was situated at The Green, Woodbine Terrace.
The Salvation Army in Pembroke Dock was situated for a long time in Meyrick Street.
The Salvation Army in Haverfordwest was situated in North Street & Holloway. Can you help with more information or personal recollections of the Salvation Army in Pembokeshire. We would love you to help us in our quest for information into our History
Can anyone help us with the location of the Salvation Army Neyland or the Salvation Army Narbeth or even the Salvation Army in Fishguard that only lasted for about 12 years
Thanks
Martyn

It must be quite active because I know at Christmas they play music around Asda and every week there is a gentleman who sells a magazine outside Woolworths. If he is there tomorrow do you want me to ask him anything?

Might be worth keeping an eye on this site just in case any local postcards pop up about the Salvation Army http://collectables.shop.ebay.co.uk/items/Postcards__salvation-army_W0QQ_nkwZsalvationQ20armyQQ_catrefZ1QQ_flnZ1QQ_sacatZ914QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em282?_trksid=p3286.c0.m282

Why not ask the Local Studies Section of the Library what info they hold?  usually they are very helpful.

Hi.
Slightly off topic but I wonder if you may be able to help.  I originate from a village, Sipson, near Heathrow airport but now live in Milford Haven.  My GG Grandfather was associated with the Salvation Army although he was never a Salvationist, and apparently knew General Booth personally.  The story is that he oversaw the purchase and planting of Hadleigh Farm in Essex for the Darkest England Scheme.  Despite many attempts to contact the farm and the Army I have not been able to find or obtain any history on the farm and wondered if you could help confirm or deny this story.  You can read what I know of his connections on my website here http://www.wildsofsipson.co.uk/PeopleStories/ThomasWild34/ThomasWild34.html
