I am looking for this family in 1871 and 1891
John Smeeton born 1838 Kibworth Beauchamp, Leics and wife Sarah (married late 1861) He is at home in Kibworth in 1861, unmarried Children Charles b 1862, and Elizabeth b 1863, both b Kibworth, not sure of any others
They must have moved to Warwickshire sometime between 1863 and 1871
Wife Sarah died 1874 after the birth of a Sarah Jane b Churchover In 1881 they are in Churchover, John is remarried to an Elizabeth and has more children by her
They are on an Ancestry index for 1871 somewhere in Warwickshire transcribed as Smeaton
Any help much appreciated Thanks SC

Charles, in 1871, is a pupil at a boarding school at Smeeton Westerby in the Market Harbrough area, Leicestershire.
There doesn't seem to be a name given for the school, and I've looked at the district description, it just says "Whole of the parish of Smeeton Westerby"

Hi Mum and Ricky
Thanks very much for all this, this is great, and for finding Charles
Seems as though John wanted his son well educated as he was himself In 1851 John and another relative were in a boarding school in Narborough called Auburn House or something like that
Will be interested to see if Ricky has found Charles in 1891 It's not surprising we can't find people because of all the various mis-transcriptions but you folks on rootschat do a marvellous job of seeking them out
Many thanks SC

Here are the relevant registrations:
Charles Smeeton married Mary Elizabeth Clarke Q1. 1889 Rugby Vol 6d. Pg. 521
Grace Sylvia Smeeton birth Q4. 1890 Lutterworth Charles Reginald Smeeton birth Q2. 1893 Lutterworth
Mary Elizabeth Smeeton birth Q1. 1895 Lutterworth
Mary Elizabeth Smeeton death Q1. 1895 Lutterworth age 29
Looks as if she might have died in childbirth ?
Charles Smeeton married Emma Clarke Q1. 1897 Birmingham
Mary Elizabeth Smeeton death Q4. 1900 Rugby age 5
Charles two wives were sisters; in 1871 census they are all home with Richard and Lucy G, another sister, who are living with them in 1901.
Hope you can understand all this
And thanks to Ricky for his help

Hi Mum
Many many thanks for this latest info and also to Ricky for his help
I had found Charles on the 1901 census index last night and discovered he was married, then the marriage ref to an Emma Clarke as one of the females in 1897 but that's as far as I could get so this is just great and really pieces this all together
Very much appreciated SC

Hi SC,
I see that these posts are a little old now, but I found them very interesting! I am the grand daughter of Charles Reginald Smeeton of Churchover. I am sure that you will have fitted a lot more of the pieces together on this one but I may have some personal knowledge about it if that helps. I wonder if you might be the lady that contacted my Aunt Lucy Eaton (Smeeton) some time ago?
Kind Regards
