Various Deaths, Scoonie/Leven
« on: Wednesday 01 October 08 14:14 UTC (UK) »

Just wondering if anyone has any information on these people before I pay for some credits at ScotlandsPeople:

Susan Kinnis, died 11th December 1941 aged 92, wife of James Dallas, who died 24th May 1928 aged 78.

Elizabeth Terras died 24 May 1936 aged 86, wife of David Jackson who died 5th January 1939 aged 90. Parents of David Terras Jackson, who died 17th January 1933 aged 57, husband of Catherine Wilson.

Mary Helen Ostlere died 16th November 1929 aged 64, wife of Thomas Watson.

Any help would be most appreciated!

Hi Ostler
My cousin and I have been researching the Jackson family, their daughter Elizabeth Robertson Jackson married James Small Stewart in 1889.  They had two children Elizabeth Terras Stewart b1890 and Robert b1894.
Would you like share info?  We have some certs from SP and additional info.
Kind Regards, Karen

Hi Ostler
Most of the info that we have gathered so far is on the children of Elizabeth Robertson Jackson, she was born 1871 in Leven, Fife.  Eliz married James Small Stewart May 3, 1889 in South Leith, they divorced Nov 1908 he emigrated to Australia around 1898.  Elizabeth Robertson Stewart died December 25 1962  aged 91 in Buckhaven Fife (have cert). Elizabeth Terras Stewart born 1890 occ teacher married Walter Scott Baker in 1919 and emigrated to Brisbane Australia that same year.  Robert James Stewart born 1894 married Catherine Pitt in 1921, he died August 13 1969 in Kennoway Fife.  We are still actively doing research on the family.
I am assuming that you are a descendant of David Jackson the son.
Kind Regards, Karen

Hi Karie

I'm not actually related to the Jackson family at all as far as I know, but I'm interested in the Terras connection, if there is one. Terras is a family that I've been researching, and Smalls are another lot I'm related to. If I could find out how Elizabeth Terras Stewart got her middle name, that would solve a lot of issues.

Hi
Elizabeth Terras Stewart is the granddaughter of David Jackson and Elizabeth Terras and following the scottish naming pattern she was named after the maternal grandmother.  Elizabeth Terras Stewarts mother was Elizabeth Robertson Jackson and she was named in honour of Elizabeth Terras' mother Elizabeth Robertson.  Elizabeth Robertson Jackson married James Small Stewart in 1889.  James Small Stewart (my gr uncle) was the son of Robert Stewart and Janet Small, my gr grandparents born in Kilwinning and then the family moved to Holytown.

I don't know as I haven't traced this line back very far, on the 1841 census David was aged 40 and Elizabeth 30, I have found on IGI a David Terras and Elizabeth Swan as possible parents and if you check out Freecen you will find another David aged 60 as the possible father.

Hi
As I said, I haven't traced this line too fully.  I will email my cousin in OZ, she can post to this site, her husbands grandfather was James Small Stewart who was married firstly to Elizabeth Robertson Jackson in Fife.  My line is James' brother.

Hi thanks for info! have cracked the terras line i think since my last post (have a rare week off work and have become obsessed doing the family tree it is so addictive lol!!!) of interest to ostler aswell i have also seen the david terras?elizabeth swan connection as poss parents but have also found another one which is closer in age for the father of david and that is of robert terras/christian duff  david born 1799 the connection being that this birth is closer in age to match 1841 cencus also if this is the case this david terras father is robert terras/christian duff and he was born 1769 in ceres fife (the right area fro the terras family) roberts father i think (two very close matches here ! wot a pain ) but my guess is john terras/margaret keel b.1751 st andrews fife  also on the robertson side elizabeth robertsons father was graham robertson think wifes name is anette these names were found on elizabeth robertsons baptism records think graham robertsons father was john.  Found an excellent website scottishpeople the gov records section! def worth a look if you havent already! jacqui.
