St Brigids Hospital Shane

I visited this hospital some years back,as I drove up to it,I was taken by what a fine building it was, standing in large grounds in the middle of no where & since then I've often wonder what it was before it became ST Brigids Hospital (it is mainly  for nursing elderly patients)St Brigids  at Shane is out side of Portlaoise on the road to wards Portarlington,any info on what it may have been before it became a hospital ? Hi Nipy,
In the last century is was a fine mansion built by Dean Coote.
As for Tullamore Hospital, I'm not into that type of thing, but the architects are www.murrayolaoire.com so try them.

Hello Jack & it still is a fine building today,I have been looking up Dean Coote +got side tracked reading up on Kemmis a iron manufacture who had a estate in Shane.No Jack it's not Tullamore hospital that I wanted   info  on it's Tullamore brick works . I've made a post on Kings Offaly boards for any info related to the brickworks & the canal.Thank you Nipy
